Services & Activities During Lent

Lent is the forty-day liturgical period of prayer and preparation when we become ready to accept the gift of resurrection and new life that Easter offers us. Traditionally a time of prayer and fasting, we at Bradley Hills we also support taking time from overly-busy schedules for new or regular spiritual disciplines. During Lent, we offer:

Ash Wednesday Services
Our services will be held on Wednesday, February 14 at 1:00 and 7:30 pm. These meaningful services marked the beginning of the holy season of Lent. There was Communion and Imposition of Ashes at both services.

Lenten Sermon Series - 'The Book of Job - Why is There Suffering in the World and What Can We Learn From It?':
As we begin our journey towards Easter, we challenge ourselves to take the season of Lent seriously. Join us for a Sermon Series on the Promise of Lent:

  • February 14: David Preaching "Comforted By Ashes"
  • February 18: David Preaching "Walking the Journey With God"
  • March 4: David Preaching "Is it Okay to be Angry with God?"
  • March 11: David Preaching "What We Can Learn from Suffering" on Music Sunday

Lenten Centering Prayer
Every weekday in Lent (February 15 to March 23), join Pastor David Gray in the Sanctuary from 12:00 to 12:20 pm for a Centering Prayer to reflect upon this journey towards the cross. You can also call from your desk or from home to listen in: call 712-451-1098 and enter access code 413906.

Lenten Small Groups - Journey of Belief
What does it mean to believe? What forms our beliefs - about God? Faith? Community? Our world? To what extent do we allow our beliefs to be challenged?
We invite you to explore these questions as part of our spiritual practice this Lent. Join a six-week small group, or a daily noon call-in devotional. As we journey through Lent together, we invite you to make some space for your spiritual journey and growth as you strengthen your relationship with God and your friendships within the congregation. The small groups will provide a time for self-reflection and faith formation through weekly themes. These are connectional, discussion-based groups guided by a leader using Scripture, activities, and prayer. Sign-up through February 11, and Pastor Kori will match you with a group of 6-12 Bradley Hills members based on your availability. Contact Kori (kori@bradleyhillschurch.org) with questions or to sign-up!

Maundy Thursday (March 29, 2018)

We hold two worship services on Good Friday at 1:00 pm and 7:30 pm. The service at 7:30 pm will be a traditional Tenebrae service.
