J. Philip Kettler, a native of Bethesda, is an active and versatile young cellist based in Nashville, Tennessee. Philip is a member of the Huntsville Symphony in Huntsville, Alabama, and also regularly performs with the Jackson Symphony, Bryan Symphony, Gateway Chamber Orchestra, and Orchestra Kentucky. In addition, Philip is a member of the Nashville Music Scoring Orchestra at Ocean Way Studios, where he performs as a recording artist for the soundtracks of movies, TV shows, and video games.
As a soloist, Philip made his professional recital debut in January 2016 as part of the Chevy Chase Concert Series in Washington, DC. In previous summers, Philip has been a member of the National Repertory Orchestra and a performer at the music festivals of Aspen, Bowdoin, and Aix-en-Provence (France).
Philip is extremely excited to present this recital with pianist Jaewon Lee. The two will perform staples of the repertoire alongside lesser-known works that span four generations of music, composed by Antonio Vivaldi, Felix Mendlessohn, Ernest Bloch, and Kaija Saariaho.
