The Whiffenpoofs of Yale
Saturday, October 17 | 7:30 pm
Bradley Hills Presents is excited to kick off our 2026-27 season with the return of The Whiffenpoofs. Every year, 14 senior Yale students are selected to be in the “Whiffs,” one of the world’s oldest and best-known collegiate a cappella groups. The group has become one of Yale’s most celebrated traditions, singing a mixture of old Yale tunes, jazz standards, and other hits from across the decades, including pieces arranged by members of the ensemble.
Recent Whiffenpoof performance venues have included Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, the White House, the Rose Bowl, and Lincoln Center. The Whiffenpoofs have also reached a television audience of more than 175 million in appearances on NBC’s “The Sing Off,” “The West Wing,” “The Today Show,” “60 Minutes,” “Gilmore Girls,” “Jeopardy!,” “Saturday Night Live,” and “Glee,” and have performed for multiple sitting Presidents of the United States.

The Cello Gang: Around the World in Six Cellos
Sunday, January 31 | 4:00 pm
Works by Florence Price, J.S. Bach, Katherine Hu, Paul Desenne, Sharon Farber, Queen, and Scott Joplin
The Cello Gang is made up of students from Artistic Director Amit Peled’s studio at the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University, where he has served on the faculty since 2003. Ranging in age from undergraduate freshmen to doctoral candidates, the ensemble brings together passionate young cellists who regularly perform repertoire written or arranged specifically for cello choir.
Each work on the program represents the heritage of one of the students, weaving diverse musical traditions into a shared voice—an expression of collaboration, love, and unity, and a resonant message of peace in challenging times.
This unique group has appeared at the Cape Cod Chamber Music Festival, the Society of Four Arts in Palm Beach, the Fairfax Symphony Orchestra, and as a resident ensemble in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. They also perform frequently throughout Maryland, the ensemble’s home base.
The Cello Gang’s debut recording, Bach 6 With 4, released on the CTM Classics label, has been enthusiastically received by audiences worldwide.

Sunday, February 28 | 4:00 pm
Nathaniel Gumbs is a native of the Bronx, NY and has performed throughout the United States and abroad, including Antigua, St. Thomas, Ghana, Paris, and Munich, and is consistently gathering new fans and followers. In a review of a recorded performance with bass-baritone Dashon Burton, The New York Times described Nathaniel’s playing as “mature, lyrical, accurate and energetic,” and that his performance was presented “deftly and with feeling.”
Dr. Gumbs currently serves as Director of Music at The Riverside Church in New York City. He earned his undergraduate degree from Shenandoah Conservatory in Virginia, his Master of Music degree from Yale University, and his Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the Eastman School of Music. Nathaniel’s principal teachers include Steven Cooksey, David Higgs, and Martin Jean.
