Children's Ministry Extracurricular Activities

There are two Children's Choirs: the Alleluia Singers, for children in kindergarten through 3rd grade, and the Lantern Chorale, for children in grades 4 through 8. For more information, click here

Music for Children: As part of our 'Education Hour for All' between worship on Sundays, DelCarla Shorter will be leading children in singing fun songs in the Library each Sunday from 9:45 to 10:15 am. Parents are welcome to join!

Upcoming Children's Events

During Lent, all children will receive their One Great Hour of Sharing Box to collect offerings for this annual gift to the church. Some families keep their boxes at the dinner table and make an offering before each meal. Others keep them by their beds and make offerings each morning or evening. Boxes may be returned to church on Palm Sunday (April 9) or on Easter Sunday (April 16).

The Milestone Project Continues: The focus for all Church School Classes in March is on the Four Gospels. The focus in February was Psalm 23 and will be celebrated in worship on March 12. At this mid-year point, we are collecting feedback from parents and teachers on the Milestone Program, so please reach out to a member of the Children's Ministry Lay Ministry if you have thoughts about the program.

On March 5 and March 26, the Lantern Chorale will sing at the 10:30 am worship service.

On March 12, the Alleluia Singers will sing at the 10:30 am worship service.

On March 5 and 12 at 9:30 am in Room 108, Pastor David and BHPC Elder Steve Elder will teach Bible Class for Third-Graders and Their Parents. All third-graders and their parents are invited to come learn about the amazing gift God has given us in the Bible.

SAVE THE DATES: Vacation Bible School will run from August 28 to August 31, 2017 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. The program will be based on Cokesbury’s “Super Heroes” curriculum, and we will run the program in-house this year,

Annual Children's Events

Vacation Bible School VBS is a week-long summer day camp for children ages 3 (potty-trained) through 5th grade. It is usually held in August.
Worship Workshop One month during the year (generally during the winter) parents and children in second grade will have an opportunity to learn about worship, explore belonging to a community of faith through baptism and communion, and talk about the order of worship and liturgy. Children who complete the Worship Workshop receive their personal copy of the Presbyterian (USA) Hymnal.
Christmas Pageant

All children attending the 5:00 Christmas Eve Service are welcome and encouraged to participate in the Christmas Pageant as we need many shepherds, sheep, animals and angels. There will be no rehearsals, but children are asked to meet in Covenant Hall at 4:30 p.m. in order to allow time to put on their church costumes.

Receiving Bibles Third-graders receive the New Revised Standard Version Bible each spring.
